Recharging your FASTag just shifted easier. The National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) has proved that users can now recharge their FASTags via the BHIM app.

Till now, the FASTags could regularly be topped-up via the portal of the bank which had originated the FASTag, or via the standard FASTag app for Android, if you had obtained this on Amazon.

The new digital payment functionality in the BHIM app begins advanced of the January 15 deadline which performs FASTags compulsory for transactions at toll plazas on all national highways over India.

“Customers can now recharge their FASTag account hassle-free by BHIM UPI enabled mobile applications just by logging within the BHIM app,” says the NCPI in an accurate announcement.

1. Login on your BHIM UPI App

2. Preferred Send Right on the home screen

3. Enter NETC FASTag UPI ID as—netc.VehicleNumber@BankUPIHandle here, the bank UPI handle command to be the FASTag issuing bank)

4. Click to Confirm

5. Enter the recharge value

6. Enter the pin to confirm the transaction

7. You will get an SMS verifying the transaction to your FASTag wallet

The banks that currently allow FASTags include HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank as well as the Airtel Payments Bank and Paytm Payments Bank.

But quite usually, the website or app from which the issuing bank enables you to recharge your FASTag leads to be clunky and not very intuitive. The capacity to add money to your FASTag via the BHIM app certainly makes things easier.

However, at this moment, there is no separate FASTag recharge opportunity possible in the BHIM app—though having that would reasonably make things even easier.

The National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) has previously established that the FASTag transactions touched the 31.46 million mark in October, with a complete transaction value of Rs 702.86 crore.
